\"The<\/a>It’s time for my (supposedly) weekly update on how\u00a0The Mapmaker Chronicles: Race to the end of the world<\/em><\/a> is travelling, as it makes its way out into the world. Behind the scenes, I hope to have a cover for book two, Prisoner of the Black Hawk<\/em>, to show you in the not-too-distant future, and I’m working\u00a0on the (thankfully quite minimal) structural edit for book three (title soon to be revealed).<\/p>\n

In the meantime, however, I’m so grateful for the huge support this community has given book one. I get such a thrill from your ‘shelfies’ and love hearing from kids who’ve read and enjoyed the book. Like Tom, son of Lucy from Stonefruit Season<\/a>, who reviewed the book for his mum’s blog and finished up with “This is, without a doubt, the best christmas present for your children over the summer holidays because they will absolutely adore it!” Big thanks, Tom!<\/p>\n

In this post<\/a>, Kate from Fox’s Lane<\/a> writes about raising adventurous girls – girls who like reading about girls who are adventurous and break the rules and go their own way. These are the girls who identify with Ash, from The Mapmaker Chronicles<\/em><\/strong>, <\/em>and, if my recent school talks are anything to go by, there are LOTS of them out there!<\/p>\n

I was interviewed by the team at the Australian Writers’ Centre<\/a>, who asked me what my writing super power was. I had three (because, really, one is never enough, right?\u00a0Go have a look<\/a>!<\/p>\n

Caz and Craig at YTravel Blog<\/a> asked me to put together a list of books that will inspire kids to travel. I came up with 14<\/a>, and I’d love to hear of any others you think I should have put on the list.<\/p>\n

And then, on Friday afternoon, the most exciting news of the week. Readings announced their top 10 Best Middle Fiction Books of 2014<\/a>, and The Mapmaker Chronicles: Race To The End Of The World<\/em> was on it! Huzzah!<\/p>\n
